The dreaded driving test! Or is it?

The reason most people fail their driving test is because they are not adequately prepared for it. With good instruction and preparation, there is no reason why all candidates should pass their test first time. Here at Caernarfon Driving school, pupils are taught on a tried and tested approach. each lesson will take you a step closer to your licence.

All pupils are taken off the main roads to a quiet industrial estate for their first lesson, to asses the standard of pupils who have driven before and to 'go over the basics' with completely new students. On reflection of the first lesson, the instructor decides which plan will be best for the student. When learning to drive, an instructor is responsible for making sure all aspects of road safety, driving techniques and the driving test are covered.

The test will last approx.. 37 mins. During this time the pupil must show a reasonable level of competence and safety. If the driver fails to reach the necessary standard, he or she will be given a certificate of fault analysis which will detail where the candidate went wrong. This certificate should be any by both pupil and instructor to assess what the pupil should be doing to improve their weak areas. The candidate is allowed 15 (minor faults) i.e.areas where improvements can be made. But only one major fault. i.e. areas where the candidate has acted improperly and  likely to be a concern for other road users. There are two other areas where the candidate can fail, the first being a Dangerous fault. This usually results in the examiner having to take over the controls in some way. or by termination. This is if (in the opinion of the examiner) the candidate is a danger to members of the public.

But Enough about failing the test, our aim is to get you through, first time and with least cost to yourself. Having said this, we pride ourself on a good pass rate and will only put you in for your test if you are ready. Please do not waste your time to phone us to book a car for the test date as you will be refused. The Ace of Arfon is a driving school not a car hire firm. We are here to teach you to drive and to try to ensure you are successful with the least amount of worry.

If you are booking a driving course with us. You will be required to book an assessment lesson first. Here we can assess your standard and temperament to see if a course is suitable. Remember that courses are condensed and hard work. It will mean that you are driving for 5 hours per day. Three in the morning and two in the afternoon. It will also seem that you are being nagged at times. If you feel that this is not for you then perhaps booking hourly lessons with us is in your best interest. Hourly lessons are more leisurely and allow you to learn at your own pace, the pressure is not so great, as you have more time to learn and over a longer period of time. Sometimes pupils prefer this as they can go home after an hour and perhaps practice their technique before the next lesson.
