Most people prefer learning to drive by booking hourly lessons. This is so that they can learn at their own pace over a period of weeks or months. It is estimated that the average pupil needs a minimum of one and a half hours for each year of their life. This is only an estimate and practice shows that pupils often take less or more than this.
Thy way to gauge learning is to take into consideration of how well you would know (let's say) your new job, work place and colleagues after your first day at work.
Take (for example) that your first day of work lasts eight hours. This would mean that by taking 8 lessons you will know just as much about driving as you would know your job after your first day in your new environment! This means that by your second day at work, you would know a lot more, by the third more still. In fact the more you are there, the more proficient you will become. Same applies to driving, the more you work at it, the easier it becomes.
Practicing in between lessons will mean that exercises will be understood much quicker.
The problem is that people try to cut corners and not book lessons but allow 'Uncle Joe' to teach them at home. It must be stressed that there is no substitute for quality instruction. Lets ask you this.... If you were learning to fly a plane or sky dive, would you allow an untrained person to teach you? I guess not. But when it comes to driving then it seems Uncle Joe is good enough! Don't be a fool to yourself, book your lessons from a qualified instructor,
who has been examined by the Driving Standards Agency, passed a written examination, advanced driving ability test and an instruction ability test. Pretty much more than Uncle Joe uh?
